This is especially true if you are moving far away from your family and friends. It is so important to have a safe space to come back to at the end of the day.

If you are living in a dorm, decorate it to your liking. Put some cute lights, hang up pictures, and lay down a beautiful rug. Look for inspiration on Pinterest if you don’t know much about interior design.

If your school does not offer dorms or if you prefer to get an apartment, make sure it is not too far from your school. Spending hours traveling to and from university is draining. You could use this time to study or relax. And if you have early classes, you’ll have to get up at dawn, which will take a toll on your motivation.

It can be tricky to decorate the apartment to your liking if you have roommates, especially if your tastes differ. But your room is your personal space, so make it your own.

If money is tight and you cannot afford new furniture, go to the flea markets and check out online marketplaces. You can find furniture or decor items almost brand new for a fraction of the price.

Transforming your room into an inviting space makes it easier to relax at the end of the day. Also, having a comfortable space makes the transition from your parents’ house to yours easier. If you feel good in your new place, you are less likely to be homesick.
