Doing Your Grocery Shopping On An Empty Stomach

This is not some sort of diet tip, but it can help you stay slim – or at least be slimmer – while saving you money.

Picture this. It’s the end of the day, you’ve been working around the clock and haven’t had time to eat, so naturally, you’re starving. It’s now getting late, and you really need to do the groceries for the week. As you walk towards the supermarket, you’re starting to visualize all the things you’re going to buy; your favorite sweets, chips, cheese, chocolate bars, or ice cream.

When we’re hungry and find ourselves in a store filled with food, we rarely crave broccoli, carrots, or asparagus. Instead, we want good old-fashioned high-calorie chocolate bars or bags of chips. And that’s precisely why you should always shop with your belly complete.

However, we told you this wasn’t about health choices but more about saving you money. So, let’s get into the financial aspect of shopping on an empty stomach. Research has shown that we tend to buy more than just food when hungry, spending money on non-food items we didn’t initially plan to purchase. And we also tend to buy more things than we would have if we had gone to the shop after eating.

So, if you find yourself in a grocery store while you’re hungry, buy a snack like a banana, and eat it before starting your shopping. Your bank account will appreciate it 😉
