Canceled!? Big Budget TV Shows On The Chopping Block

51. Betty

Network: HBO
Status: Canceled after two seasons

After a two-season run on HBO, Betty has been canceled. The show was a teen comedy series directed by Crystal Moselle, who based the series on her critically-acclaimed movie, Skate Kitchen. The show followed a group of girl skateboarders as they navigated the sport, which is traditionally male-dominated.

HBO didn’t specify why they canceled Betty, which starred Kabrina Adams and Debe Lovelace. The network just said that they would “not be moving forward” with season three of the show, likely because of low ratings. HBO is never afraid to dole out the seasons for shows with a lot of viewers, so that likely was a potential motivating factor behind the business decision.
