Riding on the wave of popularity that shows like Sons of Anarchy created in the family crime-drama genre, Jonathan Lisco borrowed the idea behind David Michôd’s 2010 film, Animal Kingdom, and with Michôd as one of the executive producers, developed a television series by the same name.

The television adaptation of the film has had consistent ratings throughout its run with them peaking in the show’s 3rd season. Animal Kingdom’s 5th season premiered in July 2021, half of a year earlier, however, in January, this family crime drama was renewed for its 6th and, what has been announced to be, final season.
