Hawkeye was created as a filler series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and was never intended to last longer than 6 episodes. When the development of Hawkeye began back in 2018, however, there was talk about the hero, possibly, getting his own stand-alone film instead.

Instead, what we got was a new installment in Marvel’s television universe that began production in 2020, and premiered in November 2021. It’s been reported that episodes of Hawkeye cost up to $25 million – which is, essentially, a mini-movie budget in itself.
