Following the rave reviews that 1989’s Turner & Hooch, starring Tom Hanks and Beasley the Dog, received from film critics, in 1990, a TV pilot of the same name was developed by Touchstone Television, only without mega-movie star, Tom Hanks. The pilot didn’t perform as well as hoped, and the series was shelved.

29 years later, Disney+ announced that Matt Nix was working on a “legacy sequel” reboot series of Turner & Hooch. July 21st, 2021, 32 years after the film hit theatres, the Turner & Hooch television series aired. Sadly, it did not conjure up nostalgia to draw a larger viewership and was canceled after its inaugural season.
