Based on Deborah Harkness’ book trilogy, All Souls, and named after the first book in the series, A Discovery of Witches, Sky One’s British fantasy television series premiered in September 2018, but the show’s journey was a long and arduous one. The film rights for the story were purchased 10 years ago, in 2011, and not by Sky One.

Warner Bros. was the original owner of A Discovery of Witches, but the series’ books rights were sold to Sky One a few years later, and the British network adapted it into the series that we know today. Before the first episode aired, Witches was signed on for two more seasons. The 3rd and final season is scheduled to premiere in early 2022.
