Raiders Of The Lost Ark is arguably one of the best Indiana Jones movies, but shooting it was no easy process. It was an expensive logistical nightmare. Steven Spielberg was resourceful though. He realized that the movie Das Boot was shooting nearby and they happened to have a submarine exterior prop.

Steven borrowed the prop for his scene, thus saving the production a ton of money. Thankfully production over at Das Boot was more than happy to share resources, otherwise, it could have been a different story.
