Period costumes are often recycled and altered from movie to movie. That way, costumers don’t have to spend money creating a new dress from scratch, as it is far cheaper to alter than recreate. This pink, polka-dot dress was first donned by Carey Mulligan when she played Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice.

Two years after the 2005 blockbuster was released, the same pink, dotty dress was worn in Becoming Jane. The dress was seen on Anna Maxwell-Martin’s character, Cassandra, in the movie, and there was one addition tacked onto the number. The neckline had a new trim to it.
