One of the sadder scenes from Twelve Monkeys, where a monkey dies, was recycled from the movie The Andromeda Strain, a Robert Wise SF movie. The death of the monkey was reused for the Twelve Monkeys film, which was a tale of redemption during the apocalypse.

Both movies had a lot of similarities, and we don’t just mean the monkey’s death knells. Andromeda was based on a sci-fi thriller by Michael Crichton, and it featured a small town in Arizona getting hit by an extraterrestrial plague. Twelve Monkeys was about a time traveler sent back from the 2030s to discover the originals of the nascent plague that exterminates humanity.
