For those who are unaware, in the science fiction series, Star Trek, scanning someone with a tricorder would give the doctor a full patient report – diagnosing everything from the common cold to the rarest blood disease without ever touching the patient. The tricorder has, recently, become the latest Star Trek-inspired device that has become a reality.

Someone over at Basil Leaf Technologies must have been a pretty big fan of Star Trek, because, not long ago, the medical device company released its very own tricorder known as DxtER. Including TB, diabetes, and pneumonia, this real life tricorder has the ability to detect 34 total health conditions by using a series of algorithms to analyze multi-sourced data about a patient.
