Bradley Cooper’s turn as a struggling writer that turns to the substance NZT-48 for help proved to be a successful outing for Lionsgate. Taking $161.8 million against a $27 million budget, it helped to further establish Cooper as a Hollywood heavy hitter.

The end of the movie left the door open for a continuation, but it wasn’t until 2016 that a TV show came to fruition. Despite Cooper’s continued involvement and guest appearances, the series didn’t last more than one season. Even so, it wasn’t a financial waste of time.
