One of the most dangerous roads in America is Interstate-5 in California. The fatal corridor of I-5 is evidenced by its harrowing traffic statistics. In a seven-year period, a fatal accident occurred every mile of I-5. Over seven hundred fatalities were amassed in the corridor.

The reasons have to do with traffic congestion. The more cars there are, the more of a chance for an accident. And, when traveling at that high of a speed, accidents are often fatal. The most dangerous section of I-5 runs through Los Angeles County, where the density of traffic spikes. It’s unclear what official plans there are, if any, to cut congestion and ease up the flow of traffic.
