SS 163 Amalfitana is the Amalfi Coast route. It’s popular among tourists and locals alike, and it follows the Amalfi shoreline from Sorrento to Salerno. Though revered for its beautiful sightseeing, SS 163 isn’t an easy drive. One TripAdvisor reviewer called the drive one of the “most stressful and dangerous” things you’ll “do in your life.”

Much of the road has no shoulder, which means that if you run into trouble, you’re out of luck, as far as pulling off to the side goes. Also, there are winding turns, and the potential for rockfall is high. Even if the rocks don’t hit your car, they can land on the road, creating impossible obstacles. Undertake this scenic drive cautiously.
