Also known as Ring Road, Route 1 in Iceland is a national road that connects many of the country’s inhabited parts. The road is thousands of miles long, and you can drive the entire road in three days. However, as one tour guide said, even a month wouldn’t be enough, with all the sights Ring Road has to offer.

Route 1 is dangerous in the winter (a shame, since winter is one of the most beautiful seasons in the country). Ring Road narrows at certain points, and, when ice and snow cause road conditions to deteriorate, that can be extra terrifying.
