Most Dangerous Roads Ever Built

64. Denali Highway, Alaska, USA

Constructed: 1957
Risk Factor: Wildfires, unpredictable weather, wildlife on the road

The vistas go forever on the Denali Highway, as much of the route travels above the timberline. Despite these beautiful sights, the 134-mile road is lightly traveled. The gravel highway’s lack of travelers has to do with its dangers. The Denali has everything, as far as hazards are concerned.

The highway is fraught with potholes, and the weather can turn the Denali into a veritable slip and slide. There is also a threat of wildfires in the warmer months, and there is a lot of wildlife on the road. Though you should be safe in your car, it’s jarring to see what comes out of the forest while you’re trying to drive down the highway.
