68. Icefields Parkway, Alberta, Canada
Constructed: 1940
Risk Factor: Ice, unpredictable weather, sudden stops
One TripAdvisor reviewer described the Icefields Parkway, located in Alberta, Canada, as “extremely scenic…but dangerous.” The Icefields Parkway is, like much of Canada, prone to ice and snow in the winter. The Parkway is 143 miles long, and the double-lane highway winds its way through the beautiful region.
Conde Nast Traveller named the Icefields Parkway as one of the world’s “top drives.” In fact, this scenic appeal is part of the danger. The Banff Blog said that people on the Parkway often get out of their cars and stop to take selfies, which is “dangerous” to motorists and wildlife.
