On May 5th, 1992, a French Cup semifinal soccer match between SC Bastia and Olympique de Marseille was scheduled to be played on Bastia’s home field, the Stade Armand-Cesari. In order to take advantage of hosting such an important match, Bastia’s board wanted to add 50% more seating, which local authorities approved.
