The bridge, which was made of reinforced concrete, cracked in late 2019. After heavy rainfall, commuters noticed that there was a crack in the pavement. They reported the crack to the government, who repaired it with fresh asphalt. Though the collapse could have been related to the crack being deeper than the ANAS realized, the exact cause of the collapse remains unknown.
