Granite is durable and beautiful, and granite countertops are often seen as a symbol of luxury within a home. Outfitting the entire kitchen, from countertops to backsplashes, with granite is overkill. Too much granite is too much of a good thing. Additionally, depending on your buyer, granite might be a bad idea for a different, health-related reason.

According to the New York State Department of Health, a “small fraction” of granite samples tested “emitted radon” levels that were above those considered “safe.” If your buyer has kept up with the granite-radioactivity debate, there’s a chance that they might walk right out of the house if you’ve overdone this feature.
