A mezzanine floor adds more value than a loft extension, but you should still look at the numbers when you’re deciding what you want to do. A mezzanine is an intermediate floor, and
it doesn’t extend over the building’s entire floorspace, so it doesn’t count when calculating the maximum square feet of a home.

A mezzanine isn’t cheap, and it takes two or three weeks to finish. When you’re done, the mezzanine adds 10% value to the home. If the expense and time-consuming nature of this project don’t outweigh the value, then go for it. If they do, a mezzanine isn’t worth it.
