In 2017, the show was renewed for a tenth season after twenty years off the air. After airing to positive ratings, it was renewed for an eleventh season, though the network reversed this decision after a racist tweet from Barr herself. ABC instead went ahead with a spin-off series without Roseanne, called The Conners.
