The Telluride Track, which has one of the most majestic views in the world, is also one of the most dangerous. It is 9,078 feet above sea level, making it the highest airport in the United States. Telluride is surrounded by mountains that pilots must consider when planning their landings.
But, without a doubt, the most striking thing about this airport is that, at the base of the runway, there is a precipice. Miscalculation by the pilots could cause the aircraft to crash into the rocky surface and get lost in the trees.
