Bhuntar Airport, also known as Kullu Airport, has a single runway that is just 3,566 feet long. But, that’s not this airport’s only problem. It is also located in a valley surrounded by high mountains that make it difficult for approaching pilots to maneuver.
In addition, Bhuntar is also very close to the Beas River. In 1995, there were floods in the area that caused the river to overflow its banks, which put aircraft operations on the runway at risk.
