73. Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport – Saudi Arabia

Year of construction: 1981
Risk factors: Long way from Jeddah, dirty, time-consuming

Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport, named after the Saudi Arabian king who was inaugurated in the early 1980s, is one of the country’s largest airports. Its unique feature is a Hajj Terminal, which was built especially for Muslim pilgrims traveling to Mecca for the annual Hajj.

The Active Times added this airport to its “Worst Airport” list, in part because of its distance from Jeddah. A flight attendant for Emirates said that the transport to the airport from Jeddah takes “two and a half hours” and usually requires buses. Other reasons Jeddah International gets bad reviews is because it takes a while to go through immigration, and passengers have also complained about the airport’s cleanliness.
