74. Kuwait International Airport – Kuwait
Year of construction: 1999 (Expansion)
Risk factors: Crime, facilities in disrepair
The Kuwait International Airport has consistently gone through expansions and additions, which has led to flight delays and complications for passengers. The travel reviews say it all, and passengers on AirlineQuality.com have given the airport a 2/10. Reviews included commentary that the airport was “absolutely ridiculous.”
Some on AQ called the facilities “horrible” and the behavior of the staff “appalling.” There is another reason the Kuwait International Airport makes this list: crime. According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of the Interior, Jeleeb Al-Shuyoukh, located at the outskirts of the airport, has been identified as a “high-crime area.” Several official travel advisories have been issued about the neighborhood’s potential for violence.
