The Most Dangerous (And Expensive) Airports Ever Built

82. Dubai International Airport – Dubai

Year of construction: 1959
Risk factors: Closely-spaced runway layout

The runways at the Dubai Airport are very closely spaced and run parallel to one another. Recently, in July of 2021, there was an incident involving two Gulf aircraft. Though the incident was described as minor, perhaps it will make airport officials rethink the layout of the Dubai Airport’s runways.

In the incident, the tail of one of the Gulf planes was clipped by another plane. The tail of one was damaged, while the wing of the other had dents in it, as a result. Luckily, there were no injuries that resulted from this minor collision between the two planes.
