The Most Dangerous (And Expensive) Airports Ever Built

84. Heathrow Airport – United Kingdom

Year of construction: 1946
Risk factors: Crime

When it comes to dangerous airports, Heathrow makes this list. Not because of runway issues, mountains, or any wind problems, but because of crime. Statistically, Heathrow had the highest levels of crime in 2019 of any other airport in England. My London News called it the most “dangerous” airport in England.

The most common crime reported at the airport was theft, and 1,127 incidents were reported to police that year. Considering that there are 80.1 million people a year who use the airport, it’s no surprise that Heathrow has high levels of crime. Travelers seem to dislike the airport. They voted it the “Worst Airport in the World” in a survey by Priority Pass a few years ago.
