McCarran International Airport, located in Las Vegas, Nevada was shut down for several hours in June of 2021 after a FedEx plane carrying cargo made a very hard landing. The runway was closed, while the rest of the airport remained operational. According to McCarran, the landing gear of the plane didn’t deploy.

Though that hard landing was an issue with the cargo plane itself, McCarran just resurfaced the last of its runways in April of 2016. The runway is the longest at the airport, and it services one-third of the traffic there. All in all, McCarran services more than 22 million passengers a year.
