Sidney Dean & Billy Hoyle:
Since it is tough to pick just one of these players, it makes good sense to include them both. The movie White Men Can’t Jump brought the world Sydney and Billy along with plenty of laughs and observations about white guys that still endure today. Though these two start out as enemies trying to hustle the other for money, their wives have to explain to them that they are better together. As professional 3-on-3 basketball becomes more and more popular, the question has to be asked whether 2-on-2 could be next. And if it is, who would not love seeing two guys who ordinarily would not be teammates, much fewer friends, dominate the league?
Sadly, the world will never see any of the above athletes take the field. However, if characters like this bring eyes to the screen, then perhaps athletes like this will give a need boost to ticket sales. In the meantime, it will still be great fun to root for a fictional underdog.
