Dmitry Lomakov owns Retromoto, as well as a collection of 120 antique and new cars. The cars are housed in the Lomakov Museum of Antique Cars, and they are noteworthy because they comprise the first, largest private car collection in Russia.

Lomakov’s collection is controversial, as many of the cars were owned by Nazis. He owns a Mercedes Benz that was once in Adolf Hitler’s possession, as well as a Mercedes Benz 540 owned by Joseph Goebbels. A Mercedes Benz 320A owned by Martin Bormann is also in the museum. Lomakov says that he has kept these cars not out of sympathy for the former owners’ ideals, but because they are a “symbol[l] of Russia’s victory” and conquest over the Germans in WWII.
